High Court judge Lee Swee Seng recorded the duo’s settlement in chambers and made no order to cost.
See-To withdrew the suit he filed against Lim after the chief minister had threatened to take legal action against him.
Lim had threatened See-To with legal action over a claim that the chief minister had made veiled threats against Penangites in saying the state’s i-Sejahtera welfare programme would be affected if he was imprisoned.
In today’s settlement, Lim also agreed to withdraw his counterclaim against See-To.
See-To said in a statement that the decision to withdraw his suit came after a negotiation.
“Now the issue has been settled and I get to keep my original statement.
“This means I had not defamed the chief minister, which he had alleged in his statement and threatened to sue me. The settlement also means he is no longer to sue me over that statement in future too,” he said, adding that he was happy with the outcome.
See-To had filed the suit in August.
