KUANTAN: Anih Bhd, the concessionaire of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway (KLK) and East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (LPT 1), has announced a 10% toll discount in conjunction with the Christmas holiday on Dec 25.
Anih Bhd executive director Nik Fauzi Nik Hussein said the toll discount for all classes of vehicles will take effect within 24 hours from 12 midnight to 11.59pm on Dec 25.
“The initiative to provide toll discounts ahead of all major festivals in the country, introduced since 2011, is a sign of appreciation to all KLK and LPT 1 road users,” he said in a statement here yesterday.
He said Anih Bhd had also issued a travel time proposal (TTA) schedule as a reference manual for road users to plan trips back to the east coast in conjunction with the Christmas holiday.
The move is to disperse traffic and reduce accidents during peak hours at the toll plaza, particularly at Gombak Toll Plaza, Bentong Toll Plaza and Karak Toll Plaza.
The peak hours where traffic is expected to flood the KLK and LPT 1 expressways are on Dec 23, from 11am to 1pm (for traffic heading to the east coast) and Dec 25, between 3pm and 6pm (for traffic heading to Kuala Lumpur).
“Therefore, we suggest motorists who want to travel to Pahang on Dec 23 enter the highway either at 12 noon or 3pm, or between 7pm and 11pm.
“Motorists who want to travel to Terengganu and Kelantan on the same date can travel from 6am to 10am, or 5pm to 8pm,” he said.
Nik Fauzi said to return to the capital on Dec 25, motorists from Pahang could choose whether to start the journey from 6am to 10am, or from 7pm to 11pm.
On the same date, motorists from Terengganu are advised to enter the highway between 8am and 11am or between 8pm and 10pm, while motorists from Kelantan can use the highway from 6pm to 10pm or between 9pm and 12pm.
Like with previous festive seasons, road users to the east coast can get the TTA schedule on the Anih Bhd website or follow Twitter @LPTTrafik and on East Coast Expressway (LPT) Facebook.
KLK and LPT 1 road users are also advised to check the balance in their Touch ‘n Go (TnG) cards before travelling as both highways have fully implemented the electronic toll collection (ETC) system.
“The card reload service at the toll lane will be closed if there is traffic to avoid congestion at the toll plaza.
“To reload or buy TnG cards, motorists can do it at the Customer Service Centre along KLK and LPT 1, namely at Gombak Toll Plaza, Bentong Toll Plaza, Karak Toll Plaza, Temerloh Toll Plaza and Kuantan Toll Plaza.
“The service runs from 7am to 10pm daily, and top-ups can also be made at the self-service kiosks at the Gombak Stop (westbound), Genting Sempah Rest and Recreation Area, Temerloh R&R (East and West directions) and at the Gambang Toll Plaza,” he said.
