PETALING JAYA: DAP’s Klang MP Charles Santiago has asked PH leaders to put their egos aside and get their act together following a public spat regarding seat negotiations in Selangor.
He said people were watching this incident closely.
“Social media appears to be agitated with PH leaders being nasty with each other concerning the seat negotiations in Selangor.
“Before these leaders fall into disrepute, they should get their act together and start the process of negotiations.
“There are too many big egos operating on all sides; they need to calm down.
“We don’t have much time, so the need to meet and finalise seat negotiations is urgent,” he said when contacted by FMT.
Political mudslinging, which in politics means negative campaigning against political candidates, is not the politics of hope, said Santiago.
“PH needs to project the politics of respect and hope to secure support and not politics of mudslinging.”
It was reported by FMT today that Selangor Amanah has received an invitation from PKR’s Mohamed Azmin Ali to attend a meeting on allocation of seats in Selangor.
This came days after the three-year-old party disputed a claim that four such meetings had already taken place.
Amanah and DAP had questioned a claim by Azmin that Pakatan Harapan (PH) was close to concluding seat negotiations.
Earlier today, PKR vice-president Tian Chua had also fired back at state DAP leader Ronnie Liu over his social media outburst against Azmin.
“Liu is not even in the state election committee and he is not involved in negotiations. Why he wants to kacau (disturb)? He should just shut up lah,” Tian Chua told The Star.
Liu, a former state executive councillor, had lashed out at Azmin just a day after Selangor Amanah chairman Izham Hashim had also criticised the menteri besar and state PH chairman on the matter.
In a Facebook posting yesterday, Liu, who is a Selangor DAP committee member, took Azmin to task for accusing Amanah of lying, telling him to stop playing politics and being selfish.
“Amanah is not honest? Amanah was lying? Come on MB Min (Azmin),” Liu wrote.
“Stop thinking that the rest of us, including Tun M (Dr Mahathir Mohamad) are stupid and you are the only one that’s clever and good in politics.
“By now everyone in Pakatan Harapan (PH) knows who you are. To me you have failed miserably. You are not fit to be our state chairman.”
