Family of 4 killed in car-lorry crash near Sabak Bernam


SHAH ALAM: A family of four, including a six-month-old baby boy, were killed when their car was involved in a collision with a lorry on Jalan Klang-Teluk Intan, at Air Manis, Sabak Bernam, near here this afternoon.

The victims identified as Abd Rahim Abd Ghani, 61, his wife Siti Fatimah Amat, 55, and their son Munira Abd Rahim, 30, died on the spot.

The baby boy Aniq Anaqi Mohd Fazzli, son of Munira, died at the emergency ward at Tengku Ampuan Jemaah Hospital (HTAJ), Sabak Bernam.

Sabak Bernam district police chief Supt Nor Azmi Isa said in the incident about noon at Km43 of the road, Rahim, who was the driver of the Perodua Kancil, was believed to have lost control of the car and entered the opposite lane before colliding with a lorry.

“The victims were believed to be coming from Sabak Bernam heading to Sungai Besar while the lorry was from the opposite direction,” he said when contacted here today.

“The lorry driver only suffered minor injuries. The cause of the accident is being investigated,” he said.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department head of operations management and station Alimaddia Bukri said they received a distress call on the incident at 12.04pm and seven personnel were deployed to the scene.

They took about 30 minutes to remove the victims from the badly-wrecked car.

In JOHOR, two family members died after a motorcycle rammed the back of a bus in an incident on Jalan Pantai Lido, heading towards Permas Jaya near here today.

Johor Bahru South district police chief ACP Shahurinain Jais said the victims  K Amaran, 42, and his son A Pugalenthi, 18, died on the spot due to severe head and body injuries.

The accident at 10.55am was believed to have occurred when Amaran, riding a motorcycle, attempted to overtake the bus on the left side of the road.

He instead hit the rear of the bus and his son was thrown onto the road, he said.

Both bodies were sent to Sultanah Aminah Hospital here.

Police are waiting for the bus driver to make a police report.
