PETALING JAYA: The cat is finally out of the bag, with DAP’s Zairil Khir Johari posting on Facebook that he is now engaged to party comrade Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud.
Zairil, who is Penang DAP vice-chairman, wrote about how he was “deeply honoured” to have his family and closest friends with him in Ipoh to celebrate his engagement.
Calling it a special occasion, the Bukit Bendera MP said he was also pleased to have the support of those dearest to him.
“They say when one door closes, another one opens. And so it has been since my marriage was dissolved last year. Such is life, and we keep moving forward.

“I am truly happy to have found in Dyana someone whom I know will make a compatible and supportive partner in life.
“More importantly, Dyana is loved dearly by all in my family, especially my two children. Looking forward to new beginnings,” he said in his FB post today.
According to reports, their engagement ceremony today was held at a prominent hotel in Ipoh, Perak.
Dyana was DAP’s candidate in the Teluk Intan by-election on May 31, 2014. The by-election was called following the death of DAP’s Seah Leong Peng.
Dyana, who is a DAP Socialist Youth national executive committee member, went up against Barisan Nasional’s Mah Siew Kong in a straight fight.
However, she lost narrowly after the Gerakan president took the parliamentary seat with a 238-vote majority.
Rumours about a relationship between Zairil and Dyana had been circulating since allegedly fake photos of the two being intimate were shared on social media in April last year.
Zairil had reportedly called the pictures “fake” while Dyana said she was saddened by the photos, which she said was the “third attack” on her. Penang opposition parties, namely Umno and Gerakan, had at the time called for the duo to file a police report if the photos were indeed fake.
