GEORGE TOWN: Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng today challenged MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong to name the state government leader allegedly involved in corruption or had received kickbacks for the tunnel-and-road project.
He said till today, Wee, who is also Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, had not identified any Penang politician.
Speaking at a press conference here today, Lim asked in which aspect of the project the alleged corruption occurred as the project was offered through an open tender.
The project encompasses the 10.5km North Coastal road from Tanjung Bungah to Teluk Bahang, a 5.7km Air Itam-Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Highway bypass, as well as the 4km Persiaran Gurney-Tun Lim Chong Eu highway bypass.
The project includes the construction of a 7.2km undersea tunnel, connecting Persiaran Gurney here to Bagan Ajam in Seberang Perai.
