GEORGE TOWN: Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today said he has yet to receive a letter from PPBM appealing against a provisional dissolution ordered by the Registrar of Societies on Thursday.
Zahid said he had only been made aware through media reports of the party’s intention to submit an appeal.
“No, I have not yet receive any letter from PPBM,” he said in a brief response for comments on the issue affecting PPBM.
Zahid was speaking in a press conference today after a working visit to the Penang police contingent headquarters here.
The “provisional dissolution” of PPBM came on the failure of the party to furnish documents and details required by the Registrar of Societies within the stipulated period.
The party, formed in 2016 after the fallout between Prime Minister Najib Razak and his deputy Muhyiddin Yassin, has been given a month to furnish more documents, failing which it could be permanently deregistered.
The documents concern meetings of its branch, divisional and central leadership. The Registrar is investigating hundreds of complaints filed by PPBM members.
