BN’s rival Ahmads both fielded in Terengganu

Old rivals for MB’s position: Ahmad Razif and Ahmad Said are in the Barisan Nasional slate.

PETALING JAYA: Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman has confirmed that he is seeking re-election in the coming general election, to lead the state for a second term.

The state Umno chief, who assumed the menteri besar’s post in May 2014 following the resignation of Ahmad Said, said this in announcing the Barisan Nasional list of candidates in Kuala Terengganu this morning.

Ahmad Razif seeks to retain the Seberang Takir state seat.

Ahmad Said had controversially quit Umno in 2014 with fellow state assemblymen Ghazali Taib and Roslee Daud after stepping down as menteri besar, only to rejoin the party later.

All three are included on the list and will seek re-election: Ahmad Said in Kijal, Ghazali in Ajil and Roslee in Bukit Besi.

Higher Education Minister Idris Jusoh, who was menteri besar from 2004 to 2008, will seek re-election in Besut and Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek in Kemaman.
