KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) secretary-general Johnny Mositun has lodged a police report over a claim circulating by chat messaging which says that the party has pulled out of Barisan Nasional.

It also claimed that Mositun had announced the party’s withdrawal.

“I strongly deny this information as the post is not true at all and has no basis whatsoever,” he said to reporters after lodging the report at city police headquarters here today.

“I lodge the report to clear my name as the PBS secretary-general as well as the deputy speaker for the Sabah state legislative assembly.

“The fake message could also tarnish the party’s good name as well as that of BN leaders. I urge the police to thoroughly investigate this and for the relevant authorities to take stern action against those responsible,” he said.

Mositun said the posting was apparently spread by someone called “Harmizan Rizady”.

“I called the number, to advise this person to stop spreading the fake information. It rang but that person did not pick up,” he said.

Mositun said he had received hundreds of queries about whether the posting was true.

The posting claimed that Mositun had announced PBS’ pull out from BN but the announcement had been kept under wraps to avoid chaos among supporters of the party and BN.
