GEORGE TOWN: A Penang Island City Council (MBPP) councillor has lodged a police report over a video clip disparaging Pakatan Harapan (PH) which has gone viral on social media.
Grace Teoh Koon Gee said the offensive video was sent to her WhatsApp group yesterday and urged the police to investigate it under the internet laws.
She lodged the report at the Patani Road police station at 10am today.
“The video gives a false impression of PH and might cause unrest among the races,” she said at the Penang DAP headquarters.
The 59-second video begins by showing a ballot paper printed with the Barisan Nasional (BN) and PKR symbols, and a pencil about to mark an X in the box for PKR.
The footage then says a vote for PKR or PH would be supporting racist leaders from DAP, gay rights, nepotism and cronyism; more foreign meddling; and the removal of Bumiputera rights and the monarchy system.
The video includes pictures of DAP leaders, George Soros, Sarawak Report’s Clare Rewcastle Brown, Dr Mahathir Mohamad and business tycoon Vincent Tan.
It ends with a picture of the earlier ballot paper with an X marked in the BN box.
State DAP committee member RSN Rayer condemned such videos as “extremely dangerous” and called for them to be removed from social media.
He said the culprits behind the making of the video must be dealt with severely under the law.
“All the claims made in the video are false and the move is to instigate voters to go against PH.”
