KUANTAN: At 8.30am today, retired soldier Nasri Mat Jusoh began marching again.
This time, however, the 56-year-old is not following a commander’s orders. Nasri is walking 300km from Kuantan to Putrajaya in protest against the rising cost of living.
Armed only with a PKR flag and a bag of supplies, Nasri started his walk from a taxi stand at a restaurant called Nasi Ayam Aida here.
When contacted by FMT, Nasri said he was walking because he wanted to draw the government’s attention.
“Everyone is suffering with the rising cost of living, including us retired soldiers,” he said.
“It’s a shame that I’ve spent so many years of my life for my country only to be tossed aside like this.”
Nasri will walk about 74km a day and is expected to reach the Putrajaya centre in four days.
