Man smashes pregnant woman’s car after Penang crash

GEORGE TOWN: A motorcyclist who crashed into a woman’s car in Bayan Lepas this morning lost his temper after the woman said she would lodge a police report against him.

In the 8.40am incident, near the Free Industrial Zone, the motorcyclist had smashed into the front of her silver Kia Picanto while she was trying to make a right turn.

In a video that has gone viral, the motorcyclist can be seen arguing with the 27-year-old woman, who is five months pregnant and was sending her sister to work at a factory nearby.

The 31-year-old man was seen pleading with the woman not to report him. However, the woman insisted on reporting it to the police to claim insurance to pay for the damage to her car.

The man then used a hammer and his crash helmet to break the windscreen of the Kia.

Southwest district police chief Superintendent A Anbalagan said the 31-year-old was arrested at his home at Bukit Kecil and tested positive for morphine.

He said the man had five prior convictions, three of which were drug-related.

He added the suspect did not have a driving licence and his motorcycle also had an expired road tax.

Anbalagan said the crash helmet, hammer and his motorcycle were seized for investigation.

He said the case had been classified as committing mischief and causing damage under Section 427 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum five years’ jail or a fine.
