KUANTAN: Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth chairman Khairy Jamaluddin has hit out at those who question BN’s system for selecting election candidates just because they were not chosen to contest in the coming polls.
Calling this irresponsible, he said they should instead be mature and accept the decisions made by the top leadership.
“This is the time when the party members are tested, to see if what we have been saying all this while was just rhetoric or true loyalty to the party.
“All this time, we have heard them say they will support whoever is chosen. So now, we get to see how those who have not been selected handle this test,” he told reporters here yesterday.
Khairy, who is also Umno Youth chief, said even within the party’s youth wing, many members had not been selected but still went down to the ground to ensure victory for BN.
In a separate development, he said he had yet to receive a report on allegations that a national athlete who obtained a bronze medal in the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, had failed a doping test conducted by the Malaysian Anti-Doping Agency.
The allegations were made several days ago on social media by a former sports reporter who claimed that the athlete underwent the doping test before the games, but the results were obtained after the event ended.
