PRM candidate hitches a ride to centre after car accident

PRM’s Azman Shah Othman is grateful he was able to get to the nomination centre with 15 minutes to spare.

BUTTERWORTH: It was a close call for Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s Azman Shah Othman who was the last candidate to file his nomination papers for the Permatang Berangan state seat.

Another car had rammed into his car from the rear at a junction near his house in Sungai Petani, Kedah.

Fortunately for him, a friend agreed to send him to the nomination centre in Sungei Dua here to submit his papers.

“Luckily, I managed to get to the nomination centre on time, about 15 minutes before it was closed. I was the last candidate to file. Alhamdulillah,” he said, expressing his gratitude for being able to make the list.

Azman will contest against Nor Hafizah Othman (BN), Mohd Sobri Saleh (PAS) and Mohd Shariff Omar (PPBM).

Permatang Berangan is part of the Tasek Gelugor parliamentary constituency, in which Shabudin Yahaya seeks re-election. He is challenged by state PPBM chief Marzuki Yahya and Rizal Hafiz Ruslan of PAS.

Tasek Gelugor has 55,064 voters.
