SEMPORNA: Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Nasir Sakaran is confident of defending the Senallang state seat in the coming polls despite facing Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) president Mohd Shafie Apdal.

Defending the seat for the fifth term, Nasir said he was not afraid to face his cousin as he was confident that the people in the constituency were wise enough to choose the best candidate to serve them.

”We (BN) can defend the Senallang state seat through hard work by the party machinery.

”I know that it will be a stiff competition but we must defend Umno… although they (opposition) are using dirty tricks and creating provocation,” he said after attending an event with the Senalang Umno division wings here.

Meanwhile, BN candidate for the Bugaya state seat Razak Sakaran said he would develop the agricultural and fisheries sectors in the constituency should BN win.

”I don’t like to use the word change but I will reorganise projects, including in agriculture, in the Bugaya state constituency as it can generate a new economic opportunity.

”It is important to spur the economy in every village in the constituency,” he said after the programme.

Semporna Umno Youth acting chief Ahmad Marzuki Nasir called on all the three wings – Wanita, Youth and Puteri – to close ranks and work hard to ensure victory for BN in the constituency.

He said the three movements should go all out to defend BN’s dignity and struggle.
