KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Najib Razak has rapped the opposition for claiming that the goods and services tax (GST) rate will be raised to 9% if the Barisan Nasional (BN) wins the 14th general election.

Najib reminded the public not to be deceived by the claim which he described as a big lie by the opposition.

On the other hand, he stressed that the GST, which came into force on April 1, 2015, will remain at 6%.

“They actually promised a return of the SST (sales and service tax) 10 + 6 per cent.

“They say that if on May 9 they win GE14, they will implement (the SST) on May 10. Ask them,” he said on his Twitter account.
