BAGAN DATUK: Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Dr Mahathir Mohamad would get himself admitted to hospital in the run-up to polling day next week as part of their strategy to gain sympathy votes.

Zahid called this Pakatan Harapan’s “surprise last minute attack”, adding that it was the same tactic used when Mahathir said there was a sabotage attempt on his flight last Friday.

“It was because he wanted to get sympathy one day before nomination day, claiming that the incident was to get him disqualified to contest in the Langkawi parliamentary seat.

“We know him because we have worked for him. His strategy and tactics may have changed, but the template remains the same, to confuse the voters, to gain sympathy and blame others, even if the weakness is with him,” Zahid told reporters after attending a programme in Kampung Pasang Api here today.

Zahid also defended the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), saying the body had acted professionally by explaining that Mahathir’s flight was not sabotaged.
