KUALA LUMPUR: A new Barisan Nasional video has upped the coalition’s battle cry in the run-up to polling day next week, as the psy-war between political parties reaches fever pitch on the social media.
A speech by Najib Razak during the launch of BN’s manifesto is also played out, urging supporters to ensure victory in the face of one of the most closely fought electoral battles in recent decades.
Accompanied with pictures of thousands of BN supporters in cities nationwide, the clip is a counter response to viral pictures of mammoth crowds at Pakatan Harapan events in the last few days.
“The coming war, we shall fight to the end, victory must be ours,” said Najib in his speech.
A compilation of images shows huge crowds greeting government leaders and candidates nationwide, including during nomination day last week.
“Pakatan Harapan says the people have rejected Barisan Nasional. Let’s watch this video and judge for ourselves,” says a message at the beginning of the video.
PH top leaders such as PPBM’s Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Amanah’s Mohamad Sabu are among crowd pullers who have spoken to rural and city voters over the past week. Their speeches were broadcast live on Facebook, with aerial pictures taken from drones being shared on other social media to drum up support for the opposition.
Crowd pictures have been a favourite weapon among political parties as part of their psy-war on social media.
Late last night, veteran Umno leader-turned-party critic Rais Yatim also shared pictures of PH rallies in Putrajaya and Kelantan.
