KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional (BN) strategist Eric See-To has urged Malaysians to keep a close eye on the Pakatan Harapan (PH) federal government, a day after the historic defeat of BN in the general election yesterday.
“Regardless of the outcome of this general election, I implore all Malaysians to place equal scrutiny on Pakatan as you have put on BN before,” said See-To.
He said it would be “equally dangerous” if there was no scrutiny on PH, adding that the public should not blindly believe whatever its leaders said.
Saying he was shocked by the scale of BN’s defeat, See-To said the PH victory had interrupted the Najib Razak administration’s transformation programme.
BN lost power at the federal level, and has so far retained only Perlis and Pahang. The fate of the Perak and Kedah state governments is still undecided, while a realignment of partnership among BN parties is expected in Sabah.
See-To, a strong critic of PH, said he had decided to speak up for BN because he wanted to “expose the lies and propaganda of Pakatan and to hold them accountable too”.
“However, it is clear now from the general election result that tangible results are less important to the voters than what was offered by our opponents in their propaganda and manipulation of emotions,” said See-To, who also wished PH “all the best”.
