PETALING JAYA: Former radio deejay Faizal Ismail has explained that he could not hear clearly what a caller had said about PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar, following a public outcry over the man’s lewd remarks.

Faizal said he only realised what was said when the recording was played back. “We apologised to her immediately,” he said on Twitter.

“What was done by the caller was uncalled for,” he added.

Former Bersih leader Maria Chin Abdullah had criticised Faizal’s apparent agreement with the caller on the show, in thanking him for calling. She said: “It should be seen as an insult to the station for using its airtime to sexually harass one of their invited guests.”

The caller had taken issue with Nurul Izzah’s way of dressing and said he could see her underwear and breasts.
