GEORGE TOWN: A Penang-based lawyer has been arrested after he allegedly intimidated a deputy public prosecutor (DPP) in a courtroom here last Friday.
Sources said the lawyer had allegedly said some “threatening” words against the DPP to his client after losing the case.
The source said this led to the prosecutor lodging a police report against the lawyer.
Penang police chief Commissioner A Thaiveegan confirmed the lawyer was arrested on Friday and later released on police bail.
However, he did not want to elaborate on what was said by the lawyer, adding that the case was now with the prosecutor’s office for further action.
“The investigation papers have been referred to the state prosecution office to decide (if the lawyer would be charged),” he said.
