Anwar rushed to hospital

PETALING JAYA: PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim was today rushed to hospital for shoulder pain, according to an aide to his wife, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

It was understood that Anwar and Wan Azizah, who is also the deputy prime minister, were supposed to attend a Hari Raya open house hosted by PKR’s Petaling Jaya MP Maria Chin Abdullah and Taman Medan state assemblyman Syamsul Firdaus Mohamed Supri.

PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil said Anwar was brought to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre from his house in Bukit Segambut.

Anwar had undergone treatment at the Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital before his release on May 16.

Anwar, named as prime minister-in-waiting, underwent a surgery on his right shoulder in March.

He had also undergone an “arthroscopic” treatment in November last year, two months after he was involved in an accident when an escort vehicle had hit the back of the prison car transporting him from Hospital Kuala Lumpur back to the Sungai Buloh Prison, where he served his jail sentence.
