KOTA KINABALU: The biggest mall in East Malaysia may be left in the dark if the management fails to settle overdue power bills amounting to RM9.3 million.

Utility company Sabah Electricty Sdn Bhd (SESB), in a statement here today, said that they would be forced to cut the power to the 1Borneo Hypermall by Wednesday, June 27, if the mall’s management failed to settle the arrears, which have accumulated for over a year.

Its senior general manager (asset management) Mohd Yaakob Jaafar said 1Borneo must pay up by June 26 as stipulated in several discussions and notices to the mall previously.

SESB is entitled to cut the power under the Electricity Supply Act 1990, the statement said.

It added that it was up to the 1Borneo management to inform the mall’s tenants.
