Counsel: Stop accusing Rosmah and linking her to 1MDB
They say that Rosmah didn’t influence outcome of any executive decisions made in 1MDB.
PETALING JAYA: Linking Rosmah Mansor directly to 1MDB and piling accusations against her is an attempt to influence the outcome of the current investigations into the state investment fund, her lawyers said today,
At worst, they are meant to tarnish Rosmah’s image, lawyers K Kumaraendran and Geethan Ram Vincent said in a statement on behalf of their client.
“We have noted the points reported in the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing a source, who claimed that Rosmah Mansor was the central figure in the alleged financial malfeasance involving 1MDB.
“We would like to reiterate here, that our client had no links, nor any direct and indirect role with the day-to-day operations of the company, more so its financial management, or those who were appointed to oversee the firm,” their statement stated.
They said as the wife of the then prime minister Najib Razak, Rosmah had stayed away from matters which were dealt by Najib.
“Never did Rosmah at any point influence the outcome of any executive decisions made.
“We are of the opinion that this is a pure trial by media, expounded further by the court of public opinion.”
The lawyers said Rosmah would continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities investigating the matter.
