IPOH: Several more senior officials of government-linked companies (GLCs) in Perak who were appointed by the previous administration will be sacked as their positions are not beneficial to the organisations.

However, Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the transfer of senior officials could not be easily done as some were bound by contracts.

He said many GLCs in the state had too many employees, including junior staff, and their services were not essential.

“I have said before that there are too many junior staff who are not needed, but a decision cannot be made hastily because we understand that if, for instance, we sack a driver, it is not only him that is without income but also his family.

“We (the state government) will look into how to minimise the organisation’s expenses,” he said.

Faizal had earlier received a contribution of RM500,000 from the Unisem Group for Tabung Harapan at his office here.

He said Perak Pakatan Harapan would keep its word that all the audits of GLCs would be tabled in the state assembly.

Last Sunday, Faizal said the state government had terminated the services of seven executive officers in a GLC for overspending.
