KOTA KINABALU: Sepanggar MP Azis Jamman has urged the Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) to reconsider its decision to disconnect power supply to 1Borneo Hypermall for the sake of workers at the shopping centre.

Azis offered to mediate in the dispute to seek a solution and spare the workers from losing their jobs and livelihood.

“Shutting down electricity supply will force the outlets to close and their workers will lose their jobs.

“We must put the interest of the people first. I am willing to be a mediator so we can all sit down and find a solution,” said the Parti Warisan Sabah youth chief in a statement today.

SESB has warned it would cut off power supply to 1Borneo tomorrow unless the mall’s management settle arrears amounting to RM9.3 million by today.

SESB senior general manager (asset management) Mohd Yaakob Jaafar said the company had given the mall’s management more than enough time to clear their debt.
