SHAH ALAM: Sekinchan state assemblyman Ng Suee Lim of the DAP was unanimously elected as the new Speaker of the Selangor Legislative Assembly at the first meeting of the first session of the 14th state assembly which convened today.
Ng, 47, who is Selangor DAP publicity secretary, takes over from former Subang Jaya state assemblyman Hannah Yeoh, also of the DAP, who is now the MP for Segambut.
Paya Jaras state assemblyman Mohd Khairuddin Othman of PKR, also 47, was unanimously elected as the Deputy Speaker. He takes over from Bangi state assemblyman Mohd Shafie Ngah of PAS.
Selangor Menteri Besar and Sungai Tua state assemblyman Amirudin Shari proposed Ng’s name and he was seconded by Bandar Baru Klang state assemblyman Teng Chang Khim.
Teng proposed Mohd Khairuddin’s name and he was seconded by Kota Kemuning state assemblyman V. Ganabatirau.
