LANGKAWI: Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad today congratulated Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on winning the Umno presidential race.
“Congratulations to Zahid for winning big. This means that he is much loved by those in Umno,” he told reporters after inspecting renovation works at the Langkawi parliamentary service centre here.
But the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman said there would be no cooperation with the new Umno leadership.
“Last time they never cooperated with us. They blocked us in many ways. We could not even collect money.
“Even my friends have all run away and deserted me,” he said.
The elections for top posts in Umno yesterday saw Zahid winning the presidential race, defeating Khairy Jamaluddin and Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.
Former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Mohamad Hasan was elected as deputy president, while former ministers Ismail Sabri and Mahdzir Khalid were confirmed as vice-presidents.
