PETALING JAYA: Former Johor menteri besar Khaled Nordin has been confirmed as the third vice-president of Umno after beating former second finance minister Johari Ghani in a close contest.
Khaled, who is the Johor Umno chief, joins Ismail Sabri and Mahdzir Khalid, who were declared winners in the vice-president’s race late last night.
Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, who made the announcement, said the results for Supreme council members had yet to be finalised as recounts were being conducted at four divisions in Kelantan.
Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is the new Umno president while former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Mohamad Hasan is his deputy.
Zahid won the party’s presidential race in a battle between a “young” Khairy Jamaluddin and an elderly Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.
