KUALA LUMPUR: Former Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz says she will continue as a member of the Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) despite her appointment as the new chairman of Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB).
“I will still be a member of the council. The work that we have to finish is only halfway done, it’s been about 50 days now.
“So there is a lot more work still to be done,” she told reporters after a meeting with the CEP today.
Zeti was appointed as PNB chairman last Friday, replacing Abdul Wahid Omar who formally resigned earlier that day.
She is part of the CEP, which advises Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s government on economic and financial matters.
Zeti, who served as BNM governor until 2016, said she was honoured by the appointment to PNB and looked forward to working with the team.
“I am going to meet them for the first time this afternoon,” she said, adding that she could not comment on anything else as she needed to be briefed in more detail.
