Eight in Rafizi’s slate for PKR elections

PETALING JAYA: Rafizi Ramli has eight running mates in his campaign to become deputy president of PKR, as shown on a campaign poster, he confirmed today.

Those on the poster are: Nurul Izzah Anwar (Permatang Pauh MP), Johari Abdul (Sungai Petani MP), William Leong (Selayang MP), S Kesavan (Sungai Siput MP), Fuziah Salleh (Kuantan MP), Rodziah Ismail (Batu Tiga state assemblyman), Akmal Nasir (Johor Baru MP) and Raymond Ahuar (Sabah PKR Youth chief)

Rafizi told FMT that he would announce the full line-up on Sunday at a gathering in Ampang.

The poster also marks 20 years of the Reformasi movement. He is shown in the centre, flanked by four on each side, with party head Anwar Ibrahim and party president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail pictured above them.

Those aligned with him are speculated to be contesting for

  • vice-president: Nurul Izzah, Johari Abdul, William Leong and S Kesavan;
  • Women’s wing: Fuziah Salleh for the leadership, and Rodziah Ismail for deputy chief;
  • PKR Youth: Akmal Nasir for Youth leader, with Raymond Ahuar for deputy.

Rafizi had announced his candidacy for the deputy presidency yesterday and is expected to take on incumbent deputy president Azmin Ali, who is the economic affairs minister.

Azmin has not yet declared whether he would defend the post or contest the presidency, where he would have to face Anwar.

The PKR elections are scheduled to take place from September to October.
