PPBM denies rift among pro tem chairmen in Sarawak

KUCHING: PPBM’s Stampin division pro tem chairman Johan Mohamad has denied any rift among the interim chairmen of the party’s divisions in Sarawak.

He said he, Affendi Jeman who is pro tem chairman for the Petra Jaya division, and Sharif Busrah who is one of PPBM’s founders were working hard to establish PPBM in Sarawak.

Speaking at a press conference before a closed-door meeting with party supporters at the Sarawak Malay National Association headquarters here last night, Johan said PPBM was looking to register 31 divisions in Sarawak.

So far, he said, 22 divisions had already held meetings and formed pro tem committees.

A list of divisions and pro tem committee members will be sent to the party headquarters for registration by next week, he added.

“We expect Sarawak PPBM to be formed by the second week of September,” he said.

He added that the party had already communicated with Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen and Sarawak PKR chairman Baru Bian, both of whom had welcomed PPBM’s move to establish itself in the state.

However, he maintained that PPBM would not cooperate with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) given their political differences.

He also denied any party involvement in reports alleging that six MPs and three state assemblymen from GPS were looking to leave the coalition.

GPS is the ruling coalition in Sarawak.

PPBM, together with DAP, PKR and Amanah, make up Pakatan Harapan which is the ruling coalition at the federal level.
