Prabakaran denies RM25 mil offer to vacate seat for Anwar

P Prabakaran became the youngest MP ever when he won the Batu seat in the 14th general election.

KUALA LUMPUR: Batu MP P Prabakaran today denied claims that he was offered RM25 million to vacate his seat to make way for PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.

“I think it is fake, false statement. I can’t comment anything on rumours,” he said at the Parliament lobby.

He was asked to comment on blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin claiming there were rumours to this effect.

Prior to this, Selayang MP William Leong Jee Keen had announced that he was willing to vacate his seat for Anwar.

In the 14th general election on May 9, Prabakaran, 22, who stood as an independent but later joined PKR, created Malaysian history by becoming the youngest candidate to win a parliamentary seat. He won by a majority of 24,438 votes.

His challengers were Dr Dominic Lau Hoe Chai (BN), Azhar Yahya (PAS) and VM Panjamothy (independent).
