Retract ‘DAP causing Malay disunity’ claim, Rayer tells Umno MP

KUALA LUMPUR: Jelutong MP RSN Rayer today called on Ketereh MP Annuar Musa to retract a statement the latter had made while campaigning for the Sungai Kandis by-election last week, claiming that DAP was causing disunity among the Malays.

Rayer was referring to the Umno secretary-general’s comments in a two-minute video titled “Realiti Kerajaan Pro-DAP” which went viral on social media.

“Annuar claimed DAP was causing Malay disunity in a video while campaigning during the Sungai Kandis by-election. This is a very serious and unfounded allegation against DAP.

“I’m giving him 24 hours to retract his claim, failing which we will be taking the necessary legal action against him,” Rayer told reporters at the Parliament lobby.

On a separate matter, Rayer said he would normally never use sensitive or vulgar words during debates in Parliament.

“Rarely will I resort to such words. But yesterday, I overreacted when I was interrupted.

“If you didn’t bother me and allowed me to go on with my speech, that would not have happened,” he said.

He claimed that some opposition MPs had the habit of throwing a tantrum each time the government raised the 1MDB issue.

“When we mention 1MDB, they will start with their nonsense and raise other irrelevant matters.

“The 1MDB issue is important and has to be debated. Because of it, Malaysia lost many foreign investors who wanted to invest here.”
