KUALA LUMPUR: The finance ministry has tabled the Supply (Reallocation of Appropriate Expenditure) Act 2018 requesting the reallocation of RM3 billion of this year’s federal budget after the restructuring, establishment and dissolution of several ministries following the May 9 general election.
The request was tabled by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, who asked for the reallocation of RM3,065,113,896 from the consolidated fund.
This will see the economic affairs ministry receiving an additional RM1.2 billion.
The second largest amount of RM448 million will go to the Treasury General Services, RM225.8 million will go to the home ministry and RM190.3 million will go to the water, land and natural resources ministry.
The education ministry will receive RM181.8 million and the youth and sports ministry, RM163.7 million.
The transport ministry meanwhile will receive RM14.6 million and the rural development ministry, RM8.7 million.
Other ministries to receive additional funds include the human resources ministry (RM111.2 million), the federal territories ministry (RM78.2 million), the entrepreneur development ministry (RM76.2 million), the Treasury (RM67.9 million) and the housing and local government ministry (RM34 million).
Former prime minister Najib Razak had proposed an allocation of RM280.25 billion for the 2018 budget.
Debates for the reallocations will be held in this sitting.
