PKR set to announce seat for Anwar’s comeback

MELAKA: The parliamentary constituency to be contested by PKR president Anwar Ibrahim will be announced this month, said PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution.

Saifuddin said so far, three parliamentary seats had been shortlisted for contest by Anwar, but he declined to disclose the constituencies.

“It will be announced this month if there is no problem,” he said after attending a briefing for the Melaka PKR.

Anwar had reportedly said that he would not be contesting in Permatang Pauh, Penang, which he and his wife Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail had represented. The seat was won by their daughter Nurul Izzah Anwar in the last polls.

Saifuddin said PKR members were asked to give their full support to Anwar.

“Anwar should be given strong support especially from party members to win and subsequently to become prime minister.

“How to hand over the post of prime minister (to Anwar) if his party is in chaos and not united,” he added.
