Singapore deputy prime minister visits Malaysia

PUTRAJAYA: Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean is making a six-day working visit to Malaysia from today until Sept 9.

The foreign ministry said the visit was among the exchanges of high-level introductory visits between leaders of Malaysia and Singapore since the formation of the new government in Putrajaya.

“This visit will provide opportunities for both sides to exchange views on broad ranging bilateral, regional and international issues and also to discuss prospects for greater cooperation,” it said in a statement today.

Teo will visit Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.

He is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

Teo will also meet Sarawak Chief Minister Abang Johari Openg, Sarawak governor Abdul Taib Mahmud, Sabah Chief Minister Shafie Apdal and Sabah governor Juhar Mahiruddin.
