Kit Siang’s aide questions sudden government allocation in Port Dickson
This comes after the Ministry of Defence says half-a-million ringgit is being spent to improve facilities for soldiers.
PETALING JAYA: An aide to DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang has questioned the timing of the Ministry of Defence’s allocation of RM500,000 to renovate houses and improve infrastructure for armed forces personnel in Port Dickson.
Syahredzan Johan, Lim’s political secretary, was responding to a Twitter post lashing out at the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government over the announcement, which comes less than three weeks before the Oct 13 by-election.
Twitter user Mutalib Rahman questioned the excuse that the allocation could be a coincidence.
“How the hell this is allowed? Of all days it comes during byelection? Coincidence my a**! Abusing government fund to win? Is Anwar is really unpopular and desperate?” said Mutalib, followed by Syahredzan’s response: “Agreed. This cannot be condoned.”
PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim is attempting to make his return to Parliament in the upcoming by-election in Port Dickson, after retired navy officer Danyal Balagopal Abdullah agreed to vacate the seat which he won in the May 9 polls.
Port Dickson, a coastal town in Negeri Sembilan, is home to many army camps.
Yesterday, Anwar pledged not to use any government machinery in his campaign.
