KOTA BHARU: The construction of the Kota Bharu-Kuala Krai Highway will proceed despite the country’s financial challenges, said Deputy Works Minister Mohd Anuar Mohd Tahir.
He said there was no reason for the 73km long, four-lane highway construction project to be cancelled as its implementation had been proceeding smoothly so far.
“All projects for the benefit of the people will be continued and there is no reason for us to stop, only the people must be patient with the current economic situation,” he said after launching the Kelantan Bina Paint sales warehouse here today.
He said this when asked if work on the highway would be postponed due to the financial difficulties the country was facing.
Thus far, the 1B Package from Pasir Hor to Kadok, involving a 10.5 kilometre route, has been completed and opened to users from August last year while the 2A (Kadok-Ketereh) and 2B packages (Ketereh-Kok Lanas) are under construction.
The 1B, 2A and 2B packages are in the first phase of the three-phase highway project which is estimated to cost RM1.8 billion.
