JOHOR BAHRU: Mohamed Azmin Ali is leading in the contest for the PKR deputy presidency, garnering 4,503 votes in Johor yesterday against his contender Rafizi Ramli who gained 3,976.
Azmin is the incumbent deputy president while Rafizi is vice-president.
PKR central election committee deputy chairman Adzman Hedra said the committee was satisfied with the election process in the state which involved 24 party divisions.
However, he said only 10,725 out of 37,934 eligible members in Johor had cast their votes yesterday.
Voter turnout was 39.29% in Segamat, 39.77% in Pagoh, 37.10% in Kulai, 35.92% in Sekijang, 34.07% in Simpang Renggam, 30.81% in Bakri and 30.61% in Parit Sulong. Other divisions saw a turnout of between 11.72% and 28.77%.
The polls see 53 candidates contesting the post of division chiefs while 163 others are contesting the post of deputy chiefs, vice-chiefs and committee members.
