KOTA KINABALU: Sabah police have cleared state PKR Youth chief Raymond Ahuar of any involvement in the rape allegations by two Indonesian women.

State police chief Omar Mammah confirmed the women had lodged a police report over the alleged rape on Sept 25 but did not name Ahuar as the perpetrator.

He said police had detained a 31-year-old local suspect in connection with the case.

“The suspect has admitted to the rape. And it was not the PKR Youth chief who did it.

“So, stop all the speculations, the false accusations linking a person who is not in the wrong,” he told reporters after attending a state security council meeting here today.

Yesterday, Ahuar denied the rape claims by the two Indonesian woman in a video that has since gone viral on social media.

Ahuar, who is political secretary to Deputy Chief Minister Christina Liew, believed the claims were an attempt by his political rivals to sabotage him ahead of the PKR polls.

He had lodged a police report over the matter at the Keningau police headquarters on Friday.

In the video, posted on YouTube, a woman who identified herself as “Linda” claimed that she and her friend, Wilda, were brought to Sabah by a man, whom she only identified as Raden and Ahuar.

She alleged the two men raped and beat them up and claimed she was also abused with an iron. Linda claimed to have filed a police complaint but did not state when and where the report was lodged.

Omar said police had spoken to the women, aged 36 and 23, and they did not state any involvement by Ahuar in the incident.

To a question whether the women had made false claims in the viral video, he said he will look at the video again and would recall the women for a further probe if needed.

“We will take action if necessary. We will also find out who spread the video,” he said, adding the women did not possess valid travel documents.

“We are investigating the rape under Section 376 of the Penal Code and the report lodged by Ahuar under Section 500 of the same code for defamation.”

Ahuar is part of the team supported by Rafizi Ramli, who is contesting the PKR deputy chief post at the national level. Ahuar hopes to be a member of the central leadership council.
