PETALING JAYA: PKR’s Kapar MP Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid, who not long ago accused Daim Zainuddin of a conspiracy against Anwar Ibrahim, has lost his post as the Kapar division chief.

Abdullah, who is aligned with Rafizi Ramli in the latter’s bid to replace Mohamed Azmin Ali as the deputy president, lost to Sementa assemblyman Dr Daroyah Alwi who is also a state exco member.

Daroyah got the most number of votes from among five candidates, while Abdullah came in third place.

Despite Abdullah’s defeat, division members gave their votes to Rafizi for the deputy president’s post.

Rafizi got 1,980 votes in Kapar while Azmin got 1,505 in the first round of the Selangor PKR elections involving nine divisions.

Abdullah had angered PPBM with a speech he made in support of Rafizi, in which he named Daim as among those trying to stop Anwar from becoming the next prime minister as agreed to under a deal reached among Pakatan Harapan parties.

Abdullah has since apologised to PPBM chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad over his remarks.
