SUBANG JAYA: Firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, 24, who was critically injured in a fracas at the Sri Maha Mariamman temple in USJ 25, earlier Tuesday morning, was transferred to the National Heart Institute (IJN) at about 11.30pm last night.

Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said the decision to transfer him was made after a discussion between IJN and the Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) where he was warded.

“This decision was made after Adib showed some positive developments.

“At IJN, there is a machine that can help increase oxygen intake into his lungs.

“Hence, we decided to transfer Adib around 10.30pm after obtaining his parents’ consent,” she said after visiting the victim at SJMC prior to his transfer to IJN.

In the early morning incident, Adib was believed to have been assaulted by a group while on duty in front of the temple.

Zuraida said Adib’s condition was reported to be stable after receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) of SJMC.

“His blood pressure has also improved, though he is currently sedated,” she said.
