PETALING JAYA: The DAP today claimed that the opposition were organising rallies as well as fanning racial and religious sentiments as they have run out of issues to raise.

The party’s secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said Umno and PAS had resorted to such tactics as they failed to counter Pakatan Harapan with “facts and figures”, Malaysiakini reported.

“I know there is worry about the rallies organised by the opposition for today and on Dec 8.

“The opposition parties now do not have any issues (to raise). They do not want to talk about the economy, as everybody knows that they don’t know how to manage the economy well,” the portal quoted him as saying.

Lim, who is also the finance minister, said this at the DAP Youth congress.

It is believed that Lim was alluding to today’s rally by Perkasa, a Malay-rights group, and a planned gathering related to the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) scheduled for next weekend.

But Lim said that such tactics “would not work” as the people knew that the ruling coalition represented all segments of Malaysia.
