Leave BN, Mohammad Hasan tells MCA

The MCA annual general meeting yesterday passed a resolution for the dissolution of Barisan Nasional and for a more effective coalition to be forged.

SEREMBAN: MCA has been told to leave Barisan Nasional (BN) to enable Umno and the remaining component parties to rebuild the coalition.

Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan said as a party with principles, MCA must be more decisive and not flip flop because such action would not help BN to move on and has only stalled its rejuvenation process.

“I would be very grateful if MCA leaves BN immediately. We cannot have friends who burden us when we are at our lowest ebb in our political journey and do not want to shoulder the burden for our losses.

“Just leave BN like the other parties which have left us without conditions. A decision like this will enable Umno and the remaining component parties to rebuild BN.

“MCA’s flip-flopping shows their inability to separate themselves from BN,” he said in a statement here today.

He added that the MCA delegates’ decision that BN be dissolved was expected as negativity surrounding the opposition coalition had increased since the May 9 polls.

The proposal for the dissolution of BN by MCA would not strengthen the two-party system in Malaysian politics, he said.

He said Umno, MIC, MyPPP and PBRS had stressed that BN would continue to be the platform that they would defend and champion.
