KUALA LUMPUR: The Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat today announced the launch of a Parliament App for the public, already available for download via Google Playstore.
Mohammad Ariff Md Yusof said it contains details of all the meetings and programmes held at the Parliament, including questions asked, presentation slides and press releases.
The app will be available on iOS soon.
“Even today’s programme will be uploaded. We will also work towards having all paperwork uploaded on the app.
“Any details about Parliament that the public would want to know can be found using the app,” he told reporters at a press conference after his opening speech at a seminar on parliamentary reforms held at the Parliament building this morning.
He added that the app was launched to facilitate public access to information about political progress in Malaysia.
On a separate matter, Ariff said he was still dissatisfied with the quality of the debates in Parliament.
He said the Dewan Rakyat was working towards improving parliamentary culture to match international standards.
He added that among other measures, they were working with Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka to improve debating language and etiquette among the members of Parliament.
“Just because one doesn’t agree with someone else, does not mean they should use any rough language. They can still express disagreement politely, using the appropriate language,” Ariff said.
