KUALA LUMPUR:
Dewan Negara today observed a minute’s silence to honour fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, who died last night due to severe injuries inflicted during a riot at the Sri Maha Mariamman temple at USJ 25, Subang Jaya on Nov 27.

Senate president S Vigneswaran also expressed condolences to Adib’s family, saying the 24-year-old sacrificed his life for the nation.

“He is a true hero, a national hero. His sacrifice for the nation truly makes the country proud.

“May the incident be a lesson for all Malaysians,” he said.

He also voiced hope that Adib’s family members as well as his colleagues at the Fire and Rescue Department would be strong in facing the situation.

The Dewan Negara members then stood up to observe the minute of silence. Muslim senators also recited the Al-Fatihah.
