In a statement, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim announced that the former Pandan MP will join the three other vice-presidents, namely Tian Chua, Dr Xavier Jeyakumar and Zuraida Kamaruddin.
Anwar also announced Tanjung Malim MP Chang Lih Kang and Saratok MP Ali Biju as vice-presidents, with the latter representing Sabah and Sarawak.
Prior to the party election, Rafizi was among the three vice-presidents, alongside Tian Chua and Nurul Izzah Anwar.
Anwar said the decision was made following a meeting by the central leadership, which discussed the appointments of the central leadership and that of the state leaders.
“It is hoped they can carry out their responsibilities in a new Malaysia.”
Rafizi’s appointment comes less than two weeks after Nurul Izzah resigned as a vice-president and as the party’s Penang chief.
The party has since denied that she quit due to internal issues in PKR and blamed internal developments in Pakatan Harapan — the ruling coalition of which PKR is a part of — for driving out Nurul Izzah.
Anwar also announced that Saifuddin Nasution Ismail remains as the secretary-general. Former Penang deputy chief minister Dr Mansor Othman was named strategic director.
Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil remains as the party’s communications director.
The other appointments are as follows:
Information chief: Hang Tuah Jaya MP Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin;
Deputy information chiefs: Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Sim Tze Tzin and S Manivanan;
Supervising secretary: Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad;
Treasurer-general: Semambu assemblyman Lee Chean Chung; and,
Central election committee (JPP): Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye.
