PETALING JAYA: Pemantau Malaysia Baharu’s president Lokman Noor Adam was arrested today by police.
According to a posting by Pemantau and Melayu Bangkit, Lokman was arrested under the Sedition Act 1948.
Earlier today, Lokman, who is an Umno Supreme Council member, had been issued a summons by the police to give his statement at Bukit Aman police headquarters at 2pm.
He was asked to assist in investigations under Section 4(1) of the Act.
Pemantau secretary Lisa Yahaya said Lokman was questioned over a video alleging that the Pakatan Harapan government was covering up the killing of fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, who died three weeks after being seriously injured in a fracas outside a temple in USJ 25 in Subang Jaya on Nov 27.
Earlier today, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Noor Rashid Ibrahim said police had completed their investigation into the death of the firefighter and the investigation papers had been sent to the DPP’s office for further action.
Rashid said it was learned that the DPP had filed the case with the courts. “The courts will initiate the prosecution soon,” he added.
