PH can’t walk the talk, says KJ

Umno’s Khairy Jamaluddin gives the thumbs up as he poses for a photograph with the Orang Asli community in Kampung Sungai Ruil, Cameron Highlands.

CAMERON HIGHLANDS: Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) “misuse” of government resources during the by-election campaign here is proof the coalition can’t walk the talk, Umno’s Khairy Jamaluddin said.

The Rembau MP and former youth and sports minister recalled how the Barisan Nasional (BN) had been accused of doing the same thing during every election previously.

“But now PH is doing this and worse,” he said at a press conference at Kampung Sungai Ruil here today.

Khairy, who was campaigning for BN candidate Ramli Mohd Nor, was responding to a picture that went viral on social media showing a four-wheel drive vehicle being used during the PH campaign.

The vehicle bore the logo of the federal Orang Asli Development Department (Jakoa).

One vehicle from the Pahang Forestry Department also had a PH flag on it, witnesses said.

Khairy said the purported misuse of government resources by PH was not the first case in the Cameron Highlands by-elections, claiming that Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu had also used government assets to campaign.

Pahang state secretary Sallehuddin Ishak said the four-wheel-drive vehicle in question was loaned to a deputy minister but since it was seen to have been used in the campaign, it would be taken back.

Former prime minister Najib Razak was among those who took a shot at PH on the matter on social media.

He asked for the model of the four-wheel drive vehicle so he could “test drive” it himself.
